Question
Sir,
I have three discharges 1 honorable from my first enlistment, 1 honorable from 3 years of active service as an officer prior to augmentation and 1 OTH for a single mis-conduct incident while serving in Iraq. I have had great fortune with top-notch firms based on my education and background and my security clearance has not been affected since my record proves there was no pattern of misconduct. Unfortunately my branch of service is less forgiving than others. I am interviewing for a Federal job and the hiring manager has no issue with my discharge especially within the context of my entire career and accomplishments. Are there any HR issues that I might run into when I submit my DD-214s? Also, what do I indicate on the HR web site when applying for federal jobs? Honorable or OTH? The option for more than one choice is not avaialable so my inclination is to indicate the highest (honorable). Regards,

Answer
The thing you have to remember is that an OTH is not a Dishonorable and they usually are not treated as such. It just sets an order of priority in the job world really. You can, and I would, submit the honorable certificates with all applications.... it will appear to overpower the OTH.
