Question
Both me and my wife are active duty in the marine corps. we want to pcs to mcb hawaii. from some of the research I've done i found that in order to pcs to hawaii you have to have 36 months left on your contract unless you are on your first term and have no family members. we both have a little over 2 years left on are contracts. does the military consider her to be a family member if she is active duty also?
No, its kind of a wash of sorts. Since she is in the military, she should not be considered in this decision. I believe that they only consider the fact if you have children. You both might think about extending a year to complete the 36 months of retainability

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
