Question
Ok, I am now 22 years old. However when I was 18 I failed the DAT test (marijuana) for USMC. A year later I went to MEPS again with the marines and popped for marijunan. I have grown up and gotten a degree in criminal justice and am thinking about joining the Army as an 11b. Was wondering if they would be able to get me a wavier for this? I have been clean for 2 1/2 years now and have no run-in's with the police.

          Thanks,
                  Adan

Answer
Dear Adam --

Prior marijuana use is waiverable under a morality waiver.  However, if you "pop" positive again, I doubt any service will look at you.  Please be sure you are no longer a substance abuser prior to trying to enlist again.

Whether you can branch infantry will depend on your Armed Service Vocational Aptitude Battery scores, and your physical fitness.

Good luck to you.
