Question
I was reading Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act. If you volunteer for active duty does the 6% interest rate apply to all pre service debt?

Although I wish the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act worked that way, if it did, you would have hoards of people joining the military to legally get out of paying their debts.
The purpose of the act is to provide relief to RESERVISTS, who normally have regular jobs and live within their means, that find themselves in financial straits as a result of being called to active duty. It isn't difficult to have a job or profession that pays substantially better than your active duty pay. If would be unfair to find yourself having your credit rating destroyed and being penalized for not being able to make your payments while serving your country.
