Question
I have an Honorable Discharge from the Air Force with an RE-2 reenlistment code. I understand I cannot ever reenlist into the Air Force with the re-2 but can I get into the Army, Army National Guard or  any other branch, guard or reserve component?

Answer
Dear Anthony --

I cannot answer your question because I do not know the circumstances by which you were given the re-enlistment code 2.  Generally, if you are unfit for one service you are unfit for all.  However, certain misdeeds, and certain medical conditions are waiverable.  The Army and Marine Corps are currently most likely to approve a waiver.

You can either visit a recruiter, and see if they will work with you to waiver your RE 2.  Or you can appeal to the Board of Military Corrections to get your RE 2 changed to RE 1.  If you get your RE code changed in your records, by the Board, you could re-enlist in any service, if you remain otherwise qualified.

Good luck to you.
