Question
My son was rejected  by  an Army medical staff for having astigmatism during his medical exam. Can he get a waiver to enter the military.

Answer
Dear Clara --

If your son's eyesight is correctable to 20/20 he will not need a waiver.  If it is correctable to at least 20/40 in one eye and 20/20 in the other, with good depth perception, his astigmatism is waiverable.

If you can, have a civilian doctor exam and prescribe glasses for your son, so he can return to MEPS and pass the eye exam.

Please write back, if you have additional questions.  Good luck to your son.
