Question
Hello ma'am i am prior service army and ant to reenlist. My question is will I be unable to reenlist if I filed for disability and i was denied? I really didn't find the need to file but was encourage to by a fellow vet. The conditions i filed for was for shaving and knee after the vet rep looked at my med records thats what he suggested. I was honorably discharged

Answer
Dear Philip --

If your re-enlistment code (RE Code) on your DD 214 is 1 or 2, you are eligible to re-enlist.

If you have ingrown hairs from shaving, you can get a waiver for that.  If you have an injured knee, you will need a medical waiver.  You will have to show that your knee injury will not keep you from doing military tasks, and does not put you at risk for further injury.  You may be excluded from some military occupational specialties due to your knee injury and associated limitations.

Please write back, if you have additional questions.  Thank you for your prior service.  Good luck to you.
