Question
so I'm planing on joining the navy and I'm really concerned about the medical examination. I don't have all that great of teeth. cavities here and there as well as missing teeth due to fillings that weren't 100% done. because I had no medical benefits. because its my dream to join the navy and take in my families foot steps. navy is what I want to do. will I get disqualified in joining due to my issue? can it be waived? what do I do?

Answer
Dear Janella --

If you are disqualified for your teeth at MEPS, you can request a waiver.  As long as your gums are healthy and your jaw is strong, and can accept implants, the Navy should grant the waiver.  Then once you are in, the Navy will fix your teeth.  You will have to be willing to have teeth pulled and get implants or dentures to replace your missing teeth.

Please write back, if other issues or concerns arise.  Good luck to you.
