Question
Colonel Bedell, I am a 59 year-old retired Army officer and was wondering is it possible to come back on active duty. I served 20 years and retired in 1996. I was a Russian Foreign Area Officer for the last 10 years of my career. What are the requirements and restrictions?  Thank you.

Answer
Dear Bill --

It is "possible" for you to return to duty for three more years, if you are still healthy, and the Army needs any of your skills.  Both of those conditions must be met before you would be considered for reactivation.

If you want to pursue this, you should discuss the Army needs, and your possible opportunities with Human Resources Command (HRC) in Alexandria Virginia.

Good luck to you.  Thank you for your service.
