Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/Corrections to one's medical record...

Question
Dear Sir,
This a waiver question which I haven't seen answered as of yet.
Suppose one has already been denied enlistment, due to
"Health reasons" concerning their Medical record, but that
very Medical record has a misdiagnosis, and the subsequent health care routines, like issuing an Inhaler,
( which was never used)
are a matter of historic error in treatment.

I happen to know someone who very much wants to become a Marine, and doesn't take No for an answer.
The answers about issues like Asthma/getting Waived, I have read, however, if someone had recently got yet another physical done, went through the appeal process... was denied, but then came back with a legally and legitimately corrected record, which was the initial issue in the fist place!

It's just a crying shame, when an over diagnosed fad-like
disease, not unlike "too-much-TV-syndrome" mistaken for ADHD...
Preventing someone from a life dream, becoming a Marine.

Answer
Robyne:

Once the appeal is denied, there usually isn't much that can be done.  However, this case appears different.  I'd suggest going back to the recruiter and MEPS with the corrected paperwork, and going from there.  IF your friend can get his current doctor to say it was a mis-diagnosis or a mistake (which might be difficult depending) then they will probably take another look at it.  If he can't get the doctor to say that, in writing, he's going to have extreme difficulty in getting MEPS to sign off on it.  (Even with the current paperwork he has).  Still, it's worth a try.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
