Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard - Master-at-Arms, NJP Waivers

Expert: Stan McElya - 1/29/2009

Question
I recently went to COs Mast, and was awarded an NJP. Earlier in the deployment however, I had dropped a package to change rates to MA. Seeing that i now have the NJP, my package was denied. The MAC here on my boat is still very supportive of me to become an MA, and he says he'll send out some emails and make a few calls, even though I told him that what the paper work stated about having to wait 36 months. I also am coming on my PTS date, where I need my NJP waived to file for PTS, and he said I can still change to MA. Is this true, or is smoke being blown up my rear-end?

Answer
I believe what you are being told is true, but honestly I am not sure. Let me research this and get back to you again when I can get ahold of one of my buddies next week.
                  Follow up
Peter, I spoke to a buddy of mine, who is more knowledgeable in this area and he said that you are being told the truth in this matter.
