Question
Hello, I was wanting to get information on a RE-3P re-enlistment code with a JFV1 separation code. I was at SOI from late October of 2006 to late January of 2007 after leaving Parris Island. I ended up getting an uncharacterized discharge from Camp Geiger after the injury I had received to my foot. I was only 7 days away from graduating as an 0352 and it was very depressing that I couldn't because I ended up in MRP for a while. I completed all of the necessary humps and tests required to graduate and had already received my orders to be at Camp Lejuene which would have been my first permanent duty station. My papers state that I am recommended for re-enlistment. I guess what I am really trying to ask is: do you think that the Marine Corps will let me come back Active Duty, or will they recommend me to the Active Reserves? I appreciate any knowledge you may be able to share.

Answer
Brad:

Talk to a USMC recruiter.  They'll be able to tell you for sure if you can come back in.  As long as the condition has been corrected it shouldn't be an issue, however, if it's still a problem, or you got disability for it, the liklihood of you coming back in in any capacity is almost nil.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
