QuestionI am joining the Army National Guard...going in 2nd lt....im 39...is it possible at a later date to access over to the air force national guard if an opportunity comes up...and how would i do it...do i have to wait until my contractual obligation is up or can i access over in the middle of my contract?..please help
AnswerDear Rob --
It might be possible to do an interservice transfer from the Army National Guard to the Air National Guard, but it is not guaranteed. You would have to find an Air Force National Guard unit that needs your skills and will accept you as an interservice transfer, and then you will have to get your current Army unit to release you from your obligation.
If you can wait until near the end of your enlistment you can more easily do an interservice transfer as part of your re-enlistment. You have to meet at least the minimum standards of the service into which you wish to transfer.
Good luck to you. Please write back, if you have additional questions.
