When you join the academy,is it true that they choose the job you will have when you graduate
Hi Nick,
Yes, it's true. You get to list your preferences, but the ultimate selection depends on the "needs of the Air Force."
However, Academy graduates get first preference over ROTC and OTS applicants (in other words, you get to pick among the available job slots first).
Within the Academy, it depends on your class standing. Those with a higher class standing are matched to jobs before those with lower class standings.
A large percentage of each Academy class become rating officers (pilots and Navigators). That's not surprising considering Academy graduates get higher job preference than other officer candidates.
