Question
I'm a senior right now in high school and plan on attending BYU next year. I have had the desire to be SeAL for a very long time, but only recently found out that BYU doesn't have a Navy ROTC. Would it be possible for me to graduate from the Army ROTC and then go directly into BUD/s after I graduate college?

Answer
Negative. Sorry Matt but if the army pays for your college then they arent going to be willing to give you up. The best bet if you want spec ops is to go rangers and then try for green berets down the line...that's if you stay army rotc. I had some friends who actually went to one college, but were able to do navy rotc at a different school thru linked programs. Ask around about that. Call BYU's guidance dept and ask if there are any schools in the area that have linked NROTC programs. If you cant do that, and still have your mind set on SEALS, then look into Naval OCS, although from what I understand most officers that go direct to BUDs come from NROTC programs. Let me know what you find out. best of luck Matt.
