Question
Good evening sir,

I emailed you almost a year and a half ago prior to enlisting and you helped me seal the deal. I never got to thank you for all the info you provided. I am in need of your assistance again. I am currently stationed in Washington (as an MP) and since basic I have been atticipating my deployment. I was stuck in a company that has about 2 years of road/patrol commitment and while I know that this is apart of my duties and service, I KNOW that I belong in combat. I have been searching the net and ARs for months and found a article that stated the following:

if someone is in a company and wants to switch to another company *in my situation its me trying to switch to a company that is deploying* then with the approval of the battalion/brigade SGM, the individual will be allowed to switch 'positions' with someone of equal rank, MOS and qualifications

This sounded a lot like the assignment swap which i learned about through your website. If you could please provide me with any information that would allow me to switch to a company that is deploying and/or how I can do so, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hi PFC Kealoha,

I assume you mean another company which is located on the same base you are stationed at?

This would be a "PCA," and can be accomplished by agreement with your CO and the CO of the company you wish to transfer to.

(1) Find a company you wish to transfer to.

(2) Speak with your first sergeant or CO and let them know of your desires.

(3) If your CO/first sergeant gives you the "go ahead," make an appointment with the CO or first sergeant of the company you wish to transfer to, and make your request.
