Question
Hello, This past August I left for recruit training at MCRD San Diego, I was at the end of first phase (swimm week to be exact) when I started to have some pretty bad foot pains, I went to Medical to see the Doctor on more than one occasion to recieve arch supports and meds. however I did not miss any training days as a result of this. On my last visit to medical the Doctor said she was recomending me for ELS with an Eroneous Enlistment Discharge. Long story short I was sent home under those circumstances and recieved a re-enlistment code of RE-3F, I'm trying my hardest to get back in the Marine Corps, I have talked to my recruiter but he did not seem to have a lot of information about how I would go about re-enlisting. So my question is, what are the chances on getting back in with an RE-3F and is there anything I can do personally like see a doctor to boost my chances of getting a waiver and hopefully re-join the Marines?

Any and all information will be helpfull,
Thanks,
Luke

Answer
Luke:

Unlikely you will be able to reenlist into the Marine Corps.  Your reenlistment code is for 'erronous enlistment', (likely for what sounds like flat feet).  Flat feet are a DQ from serving in any branch.  (Yes, people are still rejected for this).  You could talk to a podiatrist and see if there is anything you could do, but it's my belief you won't be able to get back in with this condition.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.

Experience

Field Radio Operator: MOS 2531. Served as a Platoon Sergeant in a Communications Platoon assigned to MEU Service Support Group 24 (Special Operations Capable). Did a hitch in the Army reserves as an 11B (Infantryman), 3 years. Finished out my career in the Air National Guard as a BioEnvironmental Engineer MOS 4B3X1, did that for a few years.
