Question

Hello, I wanted to thank you for taking the time to answer my question. This provides such a great platform for those of us not yet ready to speak with recruiters!

I graduated last year with a BA in anthropology, and am about to get my MA in a little over two months. During my undergrad degree I graduated with a 3.5 GPA, but as my MA is from an accredited British university I don't have a GPA.

I'm considering apply for OTS, and hopefully joining sometime after Christmas (around 02/10). I'm a military dependent (child) about to turn 23. I was wondering when would be best to take the AFOQT, and how long it takes to be evaluated. Also, I'm approximately 20 pounds overweight. I plan to lose as much as I can safely (and believe I can before 02/10), but was wondering how much this would hinder me.

Again, thank you

Answer
Hi Sarah,

The best time to take the AFOQT is in conjunction with your application for OTS.

You are not eligible to apply for OTS until you meet the Air Force's accession weight standards.
