Question
My husband has had a rocky past, and recently got a DUI (only trouble he has ever had with the law other than a speeding ticket). His dad made him enlist in the Army when he was 18 but his drug test came back positive at meps (I'm not sure). He doesn't do anything like that anymore and he is back in college. He has two years probation for the DUI but I now that after that he still wants to join the Marines. What do you think his chances are?

Answer
Hi Meghan,

Nobody can say. he will need a waiver (see: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/joiningthemilitary/a/moralwaivers.htm).

Right now, not many criminal history waivers are being approved, because all of the services are doing really well meeting their recruiting goals, but who knows what the situation will be two years from now?
