Question
Hello Matt, and thank you for your time. I am a college sophomore considering doing the Platoon Leaders Course. I want to go to law school after college, but cannot sign up for a law contract until I am a senior, and would like to try the PLC earlier. If I sign up for a ground contract as a sophomore, then qualify for a law contract as a senior, am I guaranteed a spot as a law contract if I want to switch?

Basically, if I want to switch from ground to law, can I be guaranteed a law contract (if I qualify)?

Answer
The old contract switch is very difficult and not often successfully done. The reason is that they need to have a certain amount of ground, air and law and if you were to switch it would mess that up for them. Also, if you were to do your first summer as a ground guy then switch to law, then essentially in that first summer you would be taking up a spot for someone who really did want to go ground. I wouldnt bank on getting that switch approved but you can certainly try.
