Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/Resign NG Commission

Question
I am currently serving in the National Guard.  I was commissioned 10/2008 (Fed OCS).  I have yet to be sent to BOLCII or BOLCIII.  I have received no bonuses, tuition reimbursement, etc.  My guard obligations are wreaking havoc on my civilian job.  I am a Federal Law Enforcement Agent.  I have been "passed over" for training opportunities and assignments due to my Guard obligations.  I know this is against the law, but we all know it happens.  I would like to resign my commission and concentrate on my civilian career.  I have spoken with my current CO and he understands my situation.  How do I go about resigning my commission at this point?

Answer
James,
Everything you need to submit a Letter or Resignation can be found in AR 135-175  page 23.   It even includes a sample format for an unqualified resignation.  Also, if you have served in OIF, OEF, ONE, or another ongoing operation, be sure you make note of that in your resignation letter.
Good luck,
Colonel Howell
