Question
Hello, my name is Andrew and I recently began the MEPS process to join the army. I am a GED applicant, but I scored an 81 on my ASVAB,I passed the physical, and my composite army line scores are GT:118 CL:110 CO:104 EL:107 FA:103 GM:103 MM:101 OF:105 SC:107 ST:109. I thought everything was good but then I took the AIMS test and my liaison said I was a tier2 and that he couldn't get me in. My recruiter said its not a big deal but he sounded kind of off putting. Should I be worried?

Answer
Hi Andrew,

Anyone with a GED is a "Tier II." That's true whether one "passes" the AIMS test, or not. To qualify to enlist as an Tier II, the Army requires applicants to score well on the AIMS. The AIMS determines whether or not one can succeed in a structured working environment.

Your other option is to become Tier I. How do you do that? Individuals without high school diplomas can become Tier I candidates by completing a minimum of 15 college credits.
