Question
I enlisted as an IT in the US Navy with the option of a bonus of $6000 (before taxes). I am curious if i have the option of paying back the money and reducing my enlistment back to the standard four years? It's not that I don't like the navy or regret my choice to serve; but I have accomplished what I set out to do and being in an extra year no longer seems necessary.

I'm afraid not. If you had enlisted for four years, and then later signed a two year extension contract, it *might* be possible to cancel the extension, as long as you have not yet entered the extension, or received training that required the extension.
Otherwise, you are required to complete the terms of the contract, unless you can get approved for an early discharge under established programs (see: http://usmilitary.about.com/cs/generalinfo/a/getout.htm).
