Question QUESTION: I joined the navy in 09/2004 in that same yr I was givin a a general discharge and a code of re4 the eye doctor told me that I had a rip in my left eye which was corrected while I was there the same day they found it the thing I don't get about it was if it was able to b corrected y was I discharged and was given that type of code even after completing boot camp.
ANSWER: Romeo,
Individuals with an Navy RE Code of "4" are normally not eligible to reenlist in the Navy, nor join another Service. Look at your discharge paperwork and find your DD214 Form. Down at the bottom in Block 26 there is a 3-digit code that explains why you were separated. If you send it to me I can decode it for you. That may help explain things. Be sure to mark your question as "Private" and not "Public" like this one. Your discharge is nobody else's business.

QUESTION: Wow even if I try to file a dd293? I did a follow up at meps in 2005 just to check my eye I pass every test they gave me and they didn't even notice that I had that corrected they only thing they said was I just had weak vision but it was good enough. sir all I want to do is find a way to get back in that's all I'm tryin to do
Answer Romeo,
People with a simple eye problem aren't usually given a harsh RE-4 Code. There's something else going on here.
Read my first answer again carefully. I need that code before I can attempt to answer your question. Filing a DD293, APPLICATION FOR THE REVIEW OF DISCHARGE FROM THE ARMED FORCES OF THE U.S., won't help if you don't know your codes. I understand that you're trying to get back in and I'm trying to help you.
