Question
Are the odds of becoming a U.S.General better in the Army or are they better in the Air Force?

Are there many U.S. Generals who are Medical Doctors? If so, are there more in the Army or Air Force?

If a person is a Medical Doctor in the Reserves for the Air Force or Army, what track would he or she have to take to become a U.S.
General?

Let me know,

JC

Answer
Hi JC,

The Army has around three times more troops than the Air Force, so they have around three times more generals. However, the "percentage" of General officers is about the same.

You may wish to see my Military officer promotion article at: http://usmilitary.about.com/od/promotions/l/blofficerprom.htm

General Officer promotions are very political. General officers need to be nominated by the President, and confirmed by the US Senate. You can't get much more "political" than that.

Hope this helps!
