Question
QUESTION: Good Afteroon, If in an individual tested positive for THC at MEPS, are they actually able to wait 5 months and try enlisting thru another recruiter? Wouldnt the data base at MEPS pull up the failed DAT results? Also, do you see the military offering DAT waivers in the upcoming year?(2010) I look forward to your response. Thank you for your time.

ANSWER: John,
Yes.  Because of the sheer volume of people processing through a MEPS they only keep records for about 30 days.  They let the recruiters do the record keeping.  The MEPS database is very small.
The military operates on a fiscal year from 1 October to 30 September.  So the 2010 year started last month.  Therefore the waivers get handed out early and the longer a person waits the worse their chances.  I would imagine all the branches EXCEPT the Marines will be giving DAT waivers as usual.  The USMC recently changed Commandants and the new Commandant is very tough and has said absolutely no DAT waivers, period.

QUESTION: So will it be considered lying if I go to a different county and not mention my failed MEPS UA? I have my heart and mind set on enlisting... What can I do?

Answer
John,
Ahh...lying is such a harsh word.  Call it what you will, it works.  Some people even go visit their grandparents in another state and start all over again using their relative's address.  I know for a fact it works.
Do what you wish.
