Question
hello, i was ELS in Febuary of 2003 from Ft. Benning, GA.  I currently work for the State Of Texas Corrections and wanted to Apply for a county job as Deputy, and my application was denied because of my discharge status.  what discharge status does ELS fall under and how do i go about changing this.

Thanks for you time,

Kristoffor C. Hammarbeck

Answer
Hello Kristoffor,

Ok, a few question that I have for you, was your discharge a General Discharge under honorable conditions or was it an other than honorable discharge? A few more questions that I have and I don't mean to delve to deep but in order to answer this properly I will need some of that information.
But to try and change your discharge status you will need to submit some paperwork to have them review your case. Here is a link to the website   http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/correcting-records.htm...   You will need to submit a DD form 293 and contact your service branch.
I hope that this information helps. If you have any other questions please let me know.
Thanks,
Eric
