Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard - RE 2c Code

Expert: Rod Powers - 11/2/2009

Question
In 2004 I was separated from the Air Force with an entry level separation, RE 2c code.  It was a JDA separation code (fruadulent enlistment), and I was wondering if I could get into the Coast Guard with this re code?  I know the Army will take me as I have talked to a recruiter there, but I would prefer the Coast Guard.  Is there any hope if I have written statements and a waiver to get in?

Answer
Hi Eric,

The Air Force is the only branch that almost never waivers an RE-2 code.

All of the other services (including the Coast Guard), will consider waivers for RE-2 Codes, depending on their current recruiting needs.

Hope this helps!
