About John Lewis
Expertise
I am a National Guard recruiter and localmarketer, been doing it for five years and am a subject matter expert on qualifications for National Guard and I keep up to date on Regular Army regs and programs. I was in the Navy for 4 years and have 11 years in the Guard. I will not sugar coat my answers to you. They are usually short and to the point. If you need more in depth, ask me. Because each situation is differnt, alot of times you need to actually talk to a recruiter and let them evaluate your situation in person, by looking at your documents, issues etc. If I suggest this, it would be in your best interest to do so. Finally...thank you for your interest in serving this great nation of ours. Very few people can actually make the cut to serve let alone choose to do so. So thank you for wanting to and hopefully you will get a chance. Whatever branch you choose, thank you and good luck.

Experience
11 years Guard experince, combat missions and homeland missions. 5 years recruiting. I have been a platoon sergeant and squad leader. Mentor to new recruiters and recruits.

Education/Credentials
Recruiters course and advanced courses in recruiting

Awards and Honors
Top recruiter in district for FY 2008. Met yearly quoata for 2009 by end of May.

Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard - Re-enlistment

Expert: John Lewis - 11/5/2009

Question
Dear Mr. Lewis,                                                                                                                                                       I was in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant. Decided to join the Navy and go through the BUD/s program, and was placed on TDRL for a skin rash.  The doctors claimed it was a form of psoriasis, yet it will never happen to me again. It has not happened again. I never experienced the rash prior to BUD/s nor after I was released. I was then retired with an Honorable discharge with RE-3P re-enlistment code and SFK separation code. My age is 39, but I am in excellent shape and my goals are to re-enlist and become an MP in the Active Guard Reserve. My discharge from the Navy was in April of 2006. I appreciate the time it takes to read and respond to this letter. I would like nothing more than to be back in uniform and continue serving our beloved country. Thank You I look forward to your response.

Answer
You should be ok,  though Active Guard reserve as an MP is not going to happen.  You can come in as a reserve soldier or guardsman, but you have to apply for active Guard/Reserve when there are slots, and very few are MP.  But you can join as a reserve MP if hey have slots available in your state.
