Hi, I am seeking information for my son who served in the Marine corp 1994-1998.  His dd214 shows honorable discharge and he went to reenlist and was advised that he had a RE4.  He was never in trouble and even the 4years of reserves was not up until 2002.  Is there something that we are overlooking,  I am only checking as he is working and I found your site.  What else can I be looking at.  It seems if honorable discharge how did a RE4 get recorded?  Thank you in advance.

You can have an RE4 and honorable, he must have had some trouble while in the Navy to get that.  If it is a mistake, he can request records from St Louis where military reords are kept and request copies, then pretetion the VA to have it changed based upon evidence submitted.

The info on getting records and petetioning to change them is on www.va.gov under 'military records".
