Question
Hello,
i'll be starting medical school next year and i am interested in the HPSP. now reading through the medical requirement, i notice that ADD is a disqualifyer. I was diagnosed and started taking medication for it 2yrs ago. my questions are the following, is that a final disqualification or can it be appealed? if so how likely is it to be overturned?
i'm supposed to be speaking with a recruiter next week, is it even worth going?
thanks for taking the time to read this.

Joe

Answer
Dear Joe --

It's worth seeing your recruiter.  Many conditions that are disqualifying are waiverable, depending on severity and your ability to control symptoms via medication or behavioral modification.

I cannot predict whether your waiver petition would be approved, as only a military medical doctor can make that decision based on a review of your medical history and your full petition.

Good luck to you.
