Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/Hearing Waiver for AROTC

QuestionHello,
Recently I've been notified that I have been accepted by the Army's Cadet Board of Command for a full four-year ROTC scholarship at the college of my choice (Kansas State University). I've already accepted the scholarship and am due to be medically examined in a few weeks.
I'm a bit worried about the hearing in my right ear, though. It really hasn't given me any trouble throughout my life, but according to an audiologist's report I've got a small amount of high frequency hearing loss in my right ear.
I honestly don't think it's that bad, but I'm wondering what are the chances that DODMERB will grant me a waiver for ear? In all other aspects of health, I'm perfectly fine and have ran a full marathon in this semester of my school year.
Also, how does the waiver process go for the ROTC?
- Thanks
AnswerDear Xavier --
The Military Entry Processing Site (MEPS) doctors will probably find you disqualified for not having perfect hearing. You will then request a waiver for your hearing. If you have only a mild hearing loss in one or two frequencies, you should be granted the waiver with no problem.
Congratulations on your scholarship. Good luck to you in all your pursuits.
