Question
Hi, about a year ago i had pretty severe surgery on both of my legs because I was pigeon toed. The healing is done with and there is no more medal in my body anymore.  Do you think I have a chance of getting into the Air force? And if so how long do you think its going to take me to get through all the waiver forms?

Thank You
Rich

Answer
Dear Richmond --

I do not know if you will qualify for service in the Air Force.  If you meet all of their enlistment standards other than medical history, and you are an extremely high quality candidate, the Air Force may consider a medical waiver for your surgeries.

You would have to go through the enlistment process, to include aptitude and physical testing.  Due to your medical history, you will be found "disqualified" at the Military Entry Processing Station (MEPS).  Then you would have to apply for a waiver.

I cannot predict whether your waiver will be approved, nor how long the waiver process would take for your specific condition.

Currently all the military services are recruiting well, and are offering few waivers.  Waiver availability does change from month to month and year to year.

Please write back, if you have additional questions.  Good luck to you.
