Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/Navy: The ASVAB and a consult

Question
QUESTION: I've taking the ASVAB but my scores are more than 2 yrs old. I was told by one recruiter that the Navy has went up on the HM rating and that I would have to take the ASVAB before the consult. I was told by another recruiter that I can go ahead and do the consult and take the ASVAB after. Is either one of the recruiters correct?

ANSWER: Sarah:

Scores are 'perishable' and you'll have to retake the test if you've never enlisted.  Probably a good idea anyway.   Not sure what you mean about 'consult' though.

QUESTION: A consulate(don't know if I'm spelling it right). This is a military contracted doctor that I have to see to make sure I am fine to enter the military again. I was in the Army but was discharged due to a stress fracture. This consult is to make sure everything is fine so that I can reenter the military again. You haven't heard of this?

Answer
Sarah:'

No, not in this way.  Had you provided the other information (prior service) it might have made more sense.   Now I understand better.

You won't HAVE to re-take the ASVAB, but I'd still suggest doing so, after getting a study guide and using it prior to the test.  It'll improve your score for sure.  (It worked for me).

 Now the consult makes sense.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
