Question
Since you're an Officer, you may be able to shed some light to this question.

I'm looking to apply to OTS for pilot. I was previously prior enlisted and after being out for a year, I made a stupid decision of trying marijuana in college. It was once but I never did it while on active duty. Now going back in I'm def going to have to admit to it on the form 2030.

What is your outlook on this? I mean I'm admitting this to be honest to the Air Force and on my own will. I would just hate to lose a dream over it.

Answer
Dear Jeff --

None of the services are offering the drug abuse waivers at this time.  I would stay in touch with an understanding officer recruiter, and have them contact you when waivers are available.

If you have not yet graduated from college, you can try applying for non-scholarship Air Force ROTC.  Once you qualify, waivers may be easier to get as a "one-time college experimentation" and not routine drug use.

Please write back, if you have additional questions.  Thank you for your service.
