Question
QUESTION: Hello Sir,

I have a question about reenlisting in the Marine Corps.  I was discharged during boot camp for lying about asthma and want to get back in.  I recently took a pulmonary function test and passed it easily and also have documentation from my primary physician stating that I am in good health and have no restrictions for physical activity.  My separation code is JDA1 and reentry code is RE-3F.  My narrative reason for separation was fraudulent entry into military service.  Do you think I have a good chance in geting back in?  Also I talked to my recruiter and he seems to think I can get back in but I just wanted another opinion on the matter.  Thank you for your time sir.

ANSWER: Matthew:

You will be unable to reenlist due to the prior Fraudulent enlistment.  At least, in the Marine Corps.  You may try the Army, they might take you but at the present, you'll need several waivers from whichever service you attempt to enlist in, and expect it to be a lengthy process taking, on average, six months.

QUESTION: Thank you for your prompt response sir.  Do you think the Navy would accept me?  Also my recruiter told mr it shouldn't be a problem for me to get back in.  I'm not at all questioning your answer and if you take offense I apologize that is not my intent.

Answer
Matthew:

If your recruiter wants to give it a shot, then go for it!  No offense taken at all.  If you do get in, please let me know.  It's my understanding that with this RE code it's almost impossible, but your recruiter certainly may have more up to date information.  If that be the case, trust him/her and go from there.

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
