Question
I was given a general discharge for Misconduct (serious offense)from the army with a re-entry code of 3. I made a mistake and made a verbal threat to another soldier. I was told i could enter the marines. i went and spoke to the only recruiter in my area and he told me "to get the fuck out and never come back in the fuckin office". He offered no assistance at all so is there any alternative way i could get the waiver required to get in?

While his answer might have been a tad rough about the edges, he's correct. Misconduct discharges prohibit you from entering any other service branch. You could apply to the Army to have your discharge upgraded, but chances of that are not good I'm afraid. If you got the upgrade, you'd still need a waiver, and at this time, the Marines aren't doing waivers of that type as far as I'm aware. It's difficult for people with no issues, who are just trying to enlist, to get in if they aren't in High school.

Did a hitch in the Army reserves as an 11B (Infantryman), 3 years. Finished out my career in the Air National Guard as a BioEnvironmental Engineer MOS 4B3X1, did that for a few years.
