Question
Mr.Lorenz
My name is Derelle Owens i was enlisted into the Air Force Feb. of 2007 and discharged(Honorably)2007 due failing a course test in tech school. I was greatly disappointed in myself but i still went on to college. I really miss serving it was never totally about the benefits, military is all through my family. So, my question is...IS THERE ANY POSSIBLE WAY I COULD REENTER THE AIR FORCE? OR EVEN THE NAVY? i have looked up the reenlistment code, and I'm not sure if its really saying that i CANT reenter. I spoke to a naval recruiter today and she told me that she couldn't issue me a waiver. Now, other codes stated whether a waiver was needed mine doesn't. So, now I'm wondering if this is an issue of how much a recruiter will work with me vs. me actually needing a waiver.(that is also a question). If reenlistment is possible, WHERE DO I START? since you have ample knowledge about the recruiting career field, I'm sure you could tell me just as much or more than any other recruiter, you're help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Derelle Owens

Answer
Darell,

Your code simple means that you were discharged involuntarily. I do not beleive that it means you can not re enlist. The Air Force does not have  a prior service program . Since you were active duty already once, you are not elligible for the Air force, except the Resrves of Air Natl Guard.

The Navy does have a PS program. It changes all the time, so you will need to talk to a Navy guy on that subject...

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
