Question
Hello Howard, my name is Luis and I am considering my option to enlist into airforce with my two cousins aged 23 and 19.  I am 22 years of age and my younger brother of 19 years is also interested.  Is it likely to have the four of us go to basic training together at the same time?  Is it possible if we all score over 80 on the asvab that we can go to the same technical training if all positions are available at the same AF Base?  We all have different interests for career opportunities but I believe the airforce website showed our interests to have the same locations for tech training?  Is there a way to guarantee BT and TT for the four of us in terms of completing the 2 phases together?

Answer
Luis,

The buddy system is only guaranteed for BMT really in a nut shell and that is only if you all are qualified and thy can schedule you all to leave at the same time. After BMT, then it will be a matter of what career fields you all get into.

The one thing to remember is that You want to get into a careef field that you want to do... The buddy system can bite you in the ass if you all are not careful. Just because you all want to join and serve dont mean that the job is wanted by all. Some of you may end up in something you dont whole heartedly want to do and you set yourself up for failure.

Join and serve and do what YOU want to do... The Air Force isnt that big, you can and will eventually see each other. Then there is no guarantee that you will all go to the same base. Inevitably you will be separated at that point anyway.

And that goes for all the services...not just the Air Force

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
