hi howard lorenz i have a question that i hope you dont mind answering i am in the process of applying to the Coastguard ROTC program called CSPI,i just want to know how competitve ould i be given that other applicsnts are applying as well.. Here are my stats
i have a 2.8 overall gpa, a 3.3 major gpa i am a college junio with a year and a 1.2 in completing my degree. I have tons of leadership experince form leading boys to help out in the community to being president of two of my college clubs. I leaded a fundraiser to help concer patients out and i am a supervisor at my job. As well i know two langauages other than english i know hindi and American sign lanuage. given my stats how do you think i am would you think i a good shot of getting the program and would you know how many officers would they pick for a program like this.

I know that when they make selections its done by a board. They review everything, mostly the GPAs,but I believe that they do take into consideration the volunteerisms as well. I cannot speculate how you would rate amongst your peers, but given the information that you provided to me, that you would be a strong contender for selection. I would work on getting the GPAs up, but continue on.. I think that you are on the right track!!

I have spent the past 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, 3 years was assigned as an Enlisted Accessions Recruiter. I have been deployed various times to several locations. If it is a career in the military you are looking for or thinking about I most likely have the answer. I still have contacts with in the recruiting field and if I don't know the answer then I have folks who do where I can find the answer. I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
