hi i have a 50% disability rating from the va, for depression, but i am fine and i wanted to see if i can join the guard, i was in the navy and i am well aware of discontinuing my check. i really want to get back in, my discharge code was a re-3g, is there hope for me? and if so who can i talk to about which branch of service that would help me?

You going back into the guard is dependent on a few things, like are you on medication still? and of course qualifications and RE code. If you are still on medication, then most likely not. and if you are now off meds, then the VA will have to release you from your disability. to be truthful, You are way better off to stay in the program with the VA its easier.

If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do.
