Question
Captain in the reserves, honorably discharged last year around this time. Want to reinstate commission and go active in the Army. Does the Army still need officers? Have heard Army is meeting quotas quickly because of economy etc., but not sure if these reports are mostly referencing enlisted. In the near past the Army said they needed officers very badly. Also, how long could this process take?

Answer
Dear Mary --

Contact the Human Resources branch in Alexandria, VA.  They can tell you if your branch still needs officers at the rank of captain.  Most branches are still short on mid-grade officers (captains and majors) and would be happy to have a successful officer return.

Please write back, if you have additional questions.  Thank you for your service.
