Question
I want to enlist as a linguist in the Air Force but I got a 70 on my ASVAB test. However, even though with that score I wasn't qualified to take the DLAB, my recruiter put me in to take the DLAB supposedly thinking that I needed a 70 or higher to take it. I went in to MEPS and I passed the DLAB test only to find out that I needed a 72 on my general! Of course by now you could imagine how I feel finding this out...Is there any way possible way I can get this measly two points of the general test waivered? Because afterall I qualified fair and square on the DLAB.

Answer
Dain,

There are no DLAB waivers that I am aware of. The only option you have would be to retake the ASVAB and try to achieve a higher score in the area you need. You can get an ASVAB study guide from any of the local book stores. Your recruiter will dissuade from retaking the ASVAB if you are already score qualified. As a word of warning, If you decide to retake the test, they go with the most recent score.... so if its lower,,,, thats the one you get.

I am very blunt and straight forward and will make no attempts to BS you. I will give you the best information that I possible can can. If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
