Question
I have been thinking about joining the navy. I have not met my recruiter yet, but I have a list of unanswered questions. My curiosity is overwhelming my patience! I have found a majority of answers online; however, a certain question remains unsolved. I can not seem to discover if a male and female are allowed to attend boot camp as buddies. Is it a male-male, female-female ordeal only? I have a close friend that is a male that is joining the navy, and I would love to attend boot camp as his buddy! Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

To be honest with you I've never heard of anyone wanting to do that before, so I called Navy recruiting headquarters for you. To quote the regulations, "The Navy Buddy Enlistment Program provides for the enlistment of small groups of not more than four male individuals or four female individuals who wish to remain together for as long as possible during their enlistment. Restrictions on the Buddy Program: Because recruit companies are all-male and all-female, buddy groups must be all-male or all-female."
So I'm sorry, but your answer is no.

I'm glad you're considering the military. Even without your buddy you won't regret it.
