Question
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.

I'm a college grad joining the Air Force. Originally, I planned to apply for a commission- however, my husband has gone through two officer boards with a 3.4 GPA, community service, above average test scores, and is in great shape (attended college on a tennis scholarship).  He's been rejected twice, the most recent board 4 people out of 32 were picked up. I'm assuming I don't have a chance.  My GPA is around a 3.0 (I put myself through school working midnights- In hindsight I wish I would have ROTC'd, but I was too young and naive to make the commitment). My question is, if I enlist would it be possible for me to earn a commission after serving a certain amount of time as an enlisted soldier?  If it is, how long would I serve before I would apply?  Do I have a chance?  Any advice?

I'm not sure if this is relevant, but while I'm serving enlisted, I plan on going back to school to work on another B.S. degree (accounting).  I'd like to work in the financial division of the AF. However, I am also considering working on a master's.

Once again, thank you for your time.

Answer
Ill let you in on a little known secret... Your chances of getting a commission on active duty is a hell of alot better than the other way.. They look at your military record, not your academic scores. You willhave to stay enlisted long enough to get one Enlisted Performance report , but as soon as you get your CCAF which you shoudl get automatically with your other degrees, wait 1 to 2 years, then apply...Youll get it
