Question
My husband is going into MarSOC. I have all sorts of questions about this. First off, he works with communication, what would he be doing? Is there a chance he will be deployed more often and for longer periods of time? Is there a pay increase? Where are they sent for the three week training?

Answer
Chelsea:

No pay increase unless he goes on jump status.   (Doubtful).  Deployed more?  Depends on what element he'll be assigned to...it's possible, but until he gets to his unit, neither of you will know for sure.  Deployment times are usually 'set' by whatever area you are going to, but I'd venture to say "no", they won't be longer than what he's been doing.  (That could change, of course, it's situational).

There are several places he could go for the training, it's going to depend on what coast or where he's at now, and if it's a localized training program or something MARSOC does on it's own.  He should know the answer to that question already, though.

Unless he's changing his MOS, he'll still be doing his regular job that he does now.

Best regards,

Jason

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
