Careers: Military--Army, Navy, Airforce, Marines, Coast Guard/air force pilots restricted countries

Question
This is NOT intended to be a wasted of your time. We all know that a military man's personal/family life is also an important part of his life throughout his military career. With that said, I have been dating a C-130 pilot for a little over a year now and MY life has taken me to a move overseas to an island Roatan, Honduras. When I told him of this, he was quick to tell me that Honduras is a country that he is prohibited from going to, even on any personal leave.  He just got back from a 6 month deployment to Iraq & Afghanistan so I am finding it hard to believe that my little, quite safe, Caribbean island would be restricted.  My straight out question is: Are there countries that pilots in particular are restricted/prohibited from traveling to, and if so is Honduras one of those?  A life with this hard-working, intelligent man may not be in my future.  I am a financial advisor, been with my company for 10+ years, so please respond to me as an adult, not some 20-something who fell for a pilot! (as I see so many times!)   I have already asked local air force personnel this question (simply a neighbor of mine) and they have not heard of any restrictions, however the 2 men I asked were also not pilots or air crew.

Thank you for your time.

Answer
Courtney,

I think that he is misinformed about not being able to go to Honduras. I have a troop that his wife is from that country and he goes there every year to ever other year.

I can not speak for pilots, but Honduras is not a restricted area that I was aware of. Its too hard for me to speculate because I do not know his situation... Now he may be restricted from flying to Honduras by actually flying the plane or something, but again I do not know for sure... I cant see just air crew being restricted.. I wish you wel in Honduras, I have seen photos of the country and its spectacular!!

If you think that you cant handle the answer that I give you, then don't ask the question...... If you are planning on joining the military, your number 1 decision factor in making this kind of move is that you need to be more concerned about serving your country than your country serving you!! All the benefits are the best that you can find. Education is at a premium right now and its the most rewarding thing that you can do. If I dont answer right away probably means that I am busy, but have patience, I will get to you.
