Question
i was wondering, if i leave for bootcamp august 31st, 2009 as infantry in the marines. by the time im done with bootcamp and School of Infantry, which would probably be early 2010, where would i most likely be deployed? or will i stay in the U.S?

Eric,
You have to ask yourself, "What good is a Marine infantryman if he's not deployed?"  There's not many places in the U.S. where an infantryman "trained to kill" can go practice his skill.  If you were a USMC lawyer you'd probably stay stateside and go to court to practice.  But you're an Infantryman and all the bad guys that need taken out are overseas.

So your chances of deploying are pretty good.  As to where?  That's anybody's guess.  We have Marines deployed all over the world.  Exact locations are classified.  By 2010 our new president promises to have most of the troops home from Iraq and Afghanistan, but we have Marines on peacekeeping missions in many other countries.
