Question
I signed the original documents setting in motion my re-enlistment into the FLARNG on May 16th 2008.  On Dec 5th The General waiver I needed was signed.  I took a Physical on Jan 15th 2009.  On Feb 3rd I was told because of my cholesterol levels I would now need to get a medical waiver.  how long do Medical waivers usually take and what can I do to help speed up the process.  11 months of waiting is a little much.

thanks

A.J. Artley

Answer
Dear AJ --

In is not uncommon for a waiver to take at least 90 days and up to six months to process, if it is a complex issue.

If you took your physical on 15 Jan 2009, and were turned down on 3 Feb 2009, you have not even waited 90 days for your second medical waiver to process.

You cannot count it as an 11 month wait, when your application package was just completed 2 months ago.  The count date starts when your package is complete, not when you begin the process.
