Question
How are you doing?

I have a problem, I'm in the Marine Corps and i recently got married to my wife who is in the Air force. I went down to IPAC to do my BAH paperwork and when i got down there they said i don't rate it due to me living in the Barracks. well she gets BAH and lives out in town she gets the single rate i get BAH DIF because i have a child. I was wondering why don't I rate BAH it doesn't make since to me at all. They told me its because we don't live together. well how can we if were both active duty and im stationed in NC and she is in OH. Please Help i lost and confused and no one seems to care thanks a bunch.

They are correct. If you lived together, one of you would draw full BAH, the other would not.  If your child was with you and you had to provide housing, then you'd get full BAH as well.  Just because you are married doesn't mean you automatically rate BAH at the full rate, it's location dependant.  Also, the Air Force usually lets it's people live out in town, and pay them the BAH, whereas the Marine Corps usually does not, unless of a barracks shortage, or you make Sgt.

Expertise

Questions relating to US Marine Corps; rank, awards, uniforms, career choices. I can also help people spot and expose fakes (people pretending to be Marines or have awards they didn`t earn). Considering the Marines as a career? Or another branch, like the Air National Guard? Drop me a line. HOWever..know that I am NOT a recruiter. I can offer my expert opinion and advice, but can't (and won't) over rule what a recruiter says, they are the 'on duty' expert.
